run for children 2025

Every year, at sunrise on the banks of the Mekong, hundreds of runners from around the world take part in a unique event: the Run For Children in Luang Prabang. A race where every step matters, not to break a record, but to support an essential cause: offering a better future to the children of Laos.

In 2025, two members of our ORLA Tours team, Fiorella and Alexis, will take on this challenge. And for us, it’s not just a race, it’s a commitment that deeply reflects what we stand for every day: travelling with meaning, heart, and respect.

A race like no other: running for the children of Laos

The Run For Children is more than a marathon. It is a charity race held each year in the UNESCO-listed town of Luang Prabang, in northern Laos. The event was created with a simple yet vital goal: to fund healthcare and educational programs at the Lao Friends Hospital for Children, a local pediatric hospital that provides free care to thousands of children every year. Every registration, every donation, every step supports this mission. It is a tangible way to help provide medical care, education, and hope to children from often remote rural areas.

Shared values: respect, solidarity, and authenticity

At ORLA Tours, we fully share the philosophy of the Run For Children: a sincere commitment to Laos and its people, far from mass tourism and close to local realities.

We believe that travel can be a positive force, one that builds bridges between cultures, encourages the preservation of traditions, and supports sustainable initiatives. Taking part in this race is a way to extend that commitment, not just in words, but through action.

Fiorella and Alexis: running for joy, but above all for a cause

This year, Fiorella and Alexis, two passionate members of the ORLA Tours team, will take part in the Run For Children 2025. “Taking part in this race is a way of saying thank you to the country that welcomes us, and of helping in our own way,” explains Alexis. Fiorella describes it as “a challenge that is both athletic and human, where every kilometre has meaning.”

They will run not only to push their limits, but also to remind us that travelling and living in Laos also means contributing to its future.

Laos: a land of adventure and solidarity

The Run For Children route winds through golden temples, morning markets, and the peaceful streets of Luang Prabang. Under the watchful eyes of monks, to the rhythm of children’s voices and the applause of locals, this race embodies the very soul of Laos: simple, sincere, and deeply human.

For travellers who take part in or witness the event, it is a unique experience, an immersion in Lao culture combined with a moment of universal connection.

It is also a reminder: Laos is not just a travel destination, but a living land that deserves support.

ORLA Tours and the Run For Children: a shared spirit

Since its creation, ORLA Tours has been committed to showcasing Laos differently, through tailor-made journeys focused on people, nature, and connection. Our mission is to create authentic experiences that benefit both travellers and local communities.

By taking part in the Run For Children, we reaffirm these values:

  • Supporting local communities, especially children

  • Promoting sustainability in all our actions

  • Celebrating the beauty of Laos through meaningful, tangible commitment

Because for us, travelling and running share the same breath: that of discovery, self-improvement, and respect.

Above all, a human adventure

More than a sporting event, the Run For Children is a celebration of courage, kindness, and community. And while Fiorella and Alexis will be at the starting line this year, the entire ORLA Tours team will be behind them, driven by one belief : every small action can contribute to great change.

This race perfectly embodies what we stand for: meaningful travel, where every step counts, on the paths of Laos as in life.

You too can support this meaningful cause

The Run For Children will take place on Saturday, November 25, 2025, in Luang Prabang. Whether you are a runner, a traveller, or simply curious, you can take part in your own way: by running, donating, or sharing the initiative around you.
