From Luang Prabang, we take you on a private tour to meet the ethnic groups living in the remote villages of the Nongkhiaw Valley in northeastern Laos.

Welcome to Luang Prabang

Arrival in the UNESCO World Heritage city of Luang Prabang. Your minivan driver will pick you up at the airport and take you to your hotel (without guide). Free time to relax. Lunch and dinner on your own.

day 02 ...
Visit Luang Prabang, its markets and temples

Very early in the morning, at sunrise, volunteers can watch the long processions of bonzes leaving their pagodas to receive food offerings from the faithful - a unique spectacle! (without a guide, as this is not a tourist activity).

 

Breakfast at your guesthouse. Your guide will pick you up at your guesthouse to introduce himself and begin the cultural tour of the city by bicycle, visiting the morning market near the Royal Palace, the Royal Palace, Vat Mai, Vat Sène, Vat Xiengthong and Vat Visoun temples. Lunch at your leisure in a local restaurant near the Mekong River, then wander from stroll to stroll through the local markets and stores in town. In the late afternoon, climb the 328 steps of Mount Phousi to admire the superb sunset panorama. Evening at leisure and dinner at your own expense.

Discovering the Bolaven Plateau

After breakfast, your driver and guide will collect you from your hotel and take you to the Bolaven Plateau. En route, you'll visit the weaving village of Ban Houay Houn Tai and the famous Tad Lo waterfalls. Free local lunch en route. Then on to Ban KokPhoung village, home to the Katou minorities, Tha Teng market, Agro Farm garden, Tad Gneuang waterfalls, the splendid Tad Fane waterfalls and the coffee gardens, where you can wander around and learn from your guide about coffee planting techniques and the different types of coffee grown in southern Laos. At the end of the day, check-in at your hotel and dinner at your leisure.

day 09
Remains of Khmer temples, the Mekong and its 4,000 islands

Your guide will collect you from your hotel after breakfast. You'll board a local boat and sail down the Mekong to the former capital of southern Laos, Champassak. Arriving at the port, you'll disembark and take a beautiful road through rice fields to the fabulous site of Vat Phou. This temple on the mountain, dating from the pre-Angkorian period and the cradle of Khmer civilization, has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since March 2002. Lunch at your own expense in a local Champassak restaurant. After lunch, you'll head for the far south of Laos in your private minivan. The Mekong in this part of Laos is home to a vast number of islands - 4,000, according to legend. You'll find yourself immersed in an authentic landscape in the heart of exuberant nature, or in the rice fields and their many Mekong buffalo. En route, you'll visit the pre-Angkorian site of Wat Tomo. Arrive at DoneKhong in the late afternoon. This island in the center of the Mekong is dotted with rapids and waterfalls. Check-in at your hotel. Dinner on your own.
