OUR TRAVEL AGENCY’S COMMITMENTS For More Sustainable Tourism in Laos

Welcome to our ongoing commitment to sustainable development. At ORLA TOURS, we are fully aware of our responsibility towards the planet and future generations. Our sustainability policy is built on a holistic approach that integrates economic, social, and environmental dimensions. We are committed to minimizing our ecological footprint by adopting environmentally responsible practices, promoting social equity through fair relationships with our employees and partners, and supporting the local communities in which we operate.
We strive to follow, implement, and promote best practices in sustainable development in order to maximize the positive impacts and minimize the negative impacts of our tourism activities. We also encourage our clients and partners to do the same.

This policy guides our daily work, reinforcing our commitment to sustainability and our mission to create a positive impact in the world. Our sustainability policy is structured around 10 key themes. Each theme includes a set of principles and practical actions.

Carbon footprint of your trip
Transport represents the main source of greenhouse gas emissions in the tourism industry. As a responsible tour operator in Laos, ORLA Tours encourages a more sustainable way of traveling by optimizing itineraries, promoting longer stays in each destination, and working closely with trusted local partners.
Whenever possible, we prioritize land transportation, particularly the Laos–China high-speed railway, in order to limit domestic flights. Choosing slower and more efficient transport options helps reduce the overall carbon footprint of a trip.

When preparing a trip to Laos, we also invite our travelers to consider the environmental impact of their journey and to favor more responsible travel options whenever possible.

Transport and environmental impact
Travel to and from the destination often represents the largest share of the carbon footprint of a journey. For this reason, ORLA Tours encourages travelers to choose transportation options with a lower environmental impact whenever possible.
For example, travelers can reach Laos via the high-speed railway connecting Kunming (China) to Laos, or combine train travel with international flights in order to reduce regional air travel. These options can significantly reduce emissions while offering a unique travel experience across Southeast Asia.
When several travel options are available, our team is always available to advise travelers on the most responsible and sustainable ways to reach Laos.

Promoting responsible travel options
At ORLA Tours, we prioritize partnerships with accommodations, excursions, and local suppliers committed to sustainable tourism in Laos. Whenever possible, we highlight hotels, tours, and services that follow responsible practices.

This includes establishments that are sustainability-certified, involved in environmental protection, or actively supporting local communities and local livelihoods.

In our travel programs and tailor-made tours in Laos, these responsible options are clearly identified. This allows our travelers to easily recognize and choose experiences that support eco-friendly travel and have a positive impact on the destinations they visit.

By working closely with our clients, partners, and local communities, we aim to catalyze positive change, promote nature conservation, and enrich travel experiences.
We are committed to continuously evolving, rethinking our practices, and seeking innovative solutions to minimize our environmental impact while contributing to social and economic well-being. Together, we are building a future where responsible tourism becomes the norm and where every journey leaves a positive legacy.
