When researching to choose the best local agency to organize your trip, always remember to ask for their operating licenses before making your final decision. Many agencies and even some guides claim to be based in Laos, with a website and a Lao address, while in reality they operate illegally, without paying government taxes or officially declaring your arrival to the authorities.
Admittedly, their rates may seem more attractive than those of a fully licensed agency, but the risk is real: in the event of an inspection, your holiday could be seriously compromised.
